NOA Condemns Kebbi Schoolgirl Abductions and Attacks on Worshippers in Kwara

By Vivian Daniel

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has expressed deep concern over the abduction of 25 students from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Kebbi State, as well as violent attacks on Christian worshippers in Eruku Town, Kwara State.

The Director-General of the NOA, Lanre Issa-Onilu (PhD), described the incidents as “reprehensible acts” that breach citizens’ rights and hinder Nigeria’s progress toward universal education and religious harmony.

He highlighted the particular vulnerability of the girl-child, asserting that, “No child seeking education should ever be put at risk. Schools must remain safe spaces where children can learn, grow, and aspire without fear.”

Addressing the attacks on worshippers in Kwara, the NOA boss extended condolences to the victims and their families.

“This is a senseless and unacceptable act that threatens the peace, unity, and religious harmony that Nigerians have worked hard to build,” he said.

Issa-Onilu reminded the public that freedom of worship is constitutionally guaranteed and warned that violence targeting citizens based on faith is both illegal and deeply unpatriotic.

He also reassured Nigerians that security agencies, following the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, are conducting coordinated operations and intelligence-gathering to ensure the safe return of the abducted schoolgirls and worshippers.

“Efforts are being made to protect lives and restore safety to the affected communities,” he noted.

The NOA DG emphasised the Agency’s proactive approach to national security, citing the monthly National Security Briefing, which informs the public about security achievements and progress by regulatory agencies.

He encouraged citizens to actively support the agencies by providing timely information that could prevent further harm.

By condemning these abductions and attacks, the NOA continues to highlight the need for strong community vigilance, responsive security mechanisms, and the protection of vulnerable populations. Through public awareness and engagement, the Agency aims to strengthen national cohesion and uphold the rights of all Nigerians.

The press release was issued and signed on 20 November 2025 by Paul Odenyi, the Deputy Director, Communications & Media, on behalf of the National Orientation Agency.
